We are a part of the elite group of eleven exceptional spa towns located in seven countries that are part of the transnational series “The Great Spa Towns of Europe”, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. You can try over 40 types of curative springs that, in combination with the submontane climate and omnipresent nature, have a beneficial effect on the human body. In 2023, the exceptional purity of the air at the destination was awarded the “Climatic Spa” certification, which only two spa towns in the Czech Republic have.
More than two hundred years ago, forest wilderness and marshes spread out over the places where today you can find beautiful parks and significant buildings. This deserted land was administered by the monastery located in the nearby town of Teplá. It was the monks of this monastery that first discovered the salty springs there and began mining salt from them.

Marienbad is an ideal destination or cycling trips. Around the city you will find more than 15 bike routes, which are both for beginners and experienced cyclists. The routes are 16 to 50 km long and lead through almost all the attractions you can come across in the Karlovy Vary region. Enjoying a spa wafer while walking through the colonnade while listening to the singing fountain is the perfect activity to spend a relaxing afternoon in Marienbad. Kladska peat National Nature Reserve is located in the heart of Slavkov forest. It offers a view of the mountain highland peat. This local peat we use for medical purposes in our spa treatments. The nature reserve covers 266 hectares and consists of five partssuch as Paterak, Taiga, Lysiny, Maly raseliniste and Husi forest. Taiga leads to an educational trail paths that captures some protected plants and another natural resources.
If you love a history you can visit the nearby village Tepla where is a Premonstratensian monastery with the largest library in the Czech Republic. The monastery is an important place for the whole area because it was his abbot Karel Kaspar Reitenberger who initiated the establishment of the spa of which is Marienbad unique and beautiful today.
The oldest preserved house in Marienbad where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe lived in 1823, now serves as a town museum. The museum is located above the colonnade and except Mondays you can visit it every day from 9:30 to 18:00 hours the permanent exhibition presents the history of Marienbad. The importance of the science of balneology, the geological development and nature of the region. The museum also includes a geological park which extends directly above our hotel.
The municipal theatre with a history of almost one hundred and fifty years is one of the oldest cultural building in Marienbad. Although the theatre does not have its own acting groups you can look forward to regular performances of concerts played by theatre groups, actors and also musicians from all over the Czech Republic.
Fans of the film can enjoy the evening shows by visiting the local cinema Slavia, Marienbad which is located in the city centre not far from the main road.
The opening of the spa season in Mariánské Lázně is an annual social event. The celebrations include church services, a ceremonial concert, and a musical program featuring artists and a brass orchestra. A significant event is the international music Festival Fryderyk Chopin. Mariánské Lázně also commemorates the liberation by the American army and hosts beer spa celebrations with a rich musical program.
